I love the Smart Car, and as soon as the kids are big enough to ride their bikes to school, there will be one parked in the driveway. I was just looking at it thinking that with all the hydrogen-powered Hummers and SUV guzzlers that are still on the roads, that you would sort of feel like an ant that could be stepped on at any minute! It may have received a 4-star crash rating ... but I'd really like to know how that was measured before I put my kids in the front seat. I was also a bit disappointed to see that this article says only 42 mpg, where another here (http://www.lime.com/forum/planet/14218/the_smart_car_is_coming) said up to 80mpg! I wonder if the way the car's serviced and the optional extras would make a difference.
