  • V2G and Alternative Energy | Aug 23, 2008 19:44

Just wanted to share this interesting energy calculation workbook I found online It is cool. It actually shows you how to measure the amount of energy that your car really needs!! (as opposed to how much gas it eats). It also shows you how to measure the difference of energy used at low speeds and high speeds, lets you calculate the engine’s energy efficiency, and how your car’s energy compares to other things like energy in your home. It also discusses wind and solar energy, vehicle to grid technology (V2G) as well as electric and hybrid cars.

  • A fundamental change in our driving habits is now required.

The Automobile Industry is going to be in the same position as the Airline Industry in the next few months. Unless we get away from gas combustion vehicles, including Hybrids, the automobile industry (as we know it) will die.We need to make drastic moves. America needs to move to ELECTRIC. The vehicles are not as fast, not always as fun to drive, but the move will save Americans money (Billions) and help bring change to our automotive companies. Let's "Be Green"!!!!!!!!!!!! BG Automotive Group Ltd. has a car that will travel 80-100 miles per charge for $15,995. Finally a car that most Americans can afford. Did you know that 80% of all drivers, drive less than 50 miles per day? This new car will cost an equivalent of $0.20-0.25 cents/gallon (depending on electricity rates in your area). Why send $700 Billion per year to OPEC (now buying up U.S. companies) when we can use this money for our schools, health care, social security for all Americans, etc, etc, etc. We can make the difference if WE change.

  • New vs. already built | Jul 14, 2008 15:06

While an energy efficient new vehicle may be just the ticket for a committed commuter, I keep thinking of the article I read about total overall "carbon footprint" (God how I hate using those pansy PC words, but it may fit here).

The writer made a sound argument supporting the concept that buying an already produced (used) vehicle that provides decent m.p.g.s could well be the more ecologically sound choice when considering the investment in new and exotic materials required to produce the increasingly efficient "high" m.p.g. vehicles. (Often these do not live up to claimed efficiencies. Older vehicles with a proven track record become the benchmarks of comparison.)

And don't forget that any ride requiring an outlet and a cord is transferring part of its operating cost onto a different billing statement. If that statement is your boss's and not your own, well, maybe you ought to check to make sure the boss is ready to commit to that level of environmentalism!

  • Articles like this are wrong. Here's why; The point is not to run the car on water, water is merely a supplement. The car can not run strictly on water, unless you have a BMW hydrogen7 or something similar. Chances are you don't have that, you have the common car, which can have it's fuel milage more than doubled by eloctrolysis, creating hydrogen while you drive, a fuel, that takes the place of a significant amount, but not all, of gasoline and/or diesel. See, www.xynergyusa.com, and rainingfuel.com has sold $6million dollars worth in 3 months with no returns, at $200 you get a 30% - 50% increase in fuel economy. see my blog for compounding evidence to the contrary of this article. http://hydrogenretrofit.blogspot.com
