On Earth day, I urged my fiancé to use the toaster oven to heat up his organic Tater Tots, rather than the regular oven. He grumbled, but he did it, and presumably some energy was saved in the process. This, and a recent USA Today article about Ed Begley and his wife Rachelle Carson-Begley, got me thinking about couples in the green public sphere.

With some, both members of the relationship are gung-ho about helping planet Earth, but in other cases, one person is a less-enthusiastic accomplice. In fact, Ed and “light green” Rachelle’s good-natured bickering (to paraphrase USA Today) was the inspiration for their reality show, Living With Ed.
