Hike Me Up, Baby!

Reality Series #8

My Architect Dave and I pull into the parking lot of this beautiful park in Malibu, CA. I did my own research beforehand and found this great website that has literally thousands of trails in all parts of the US for your perusal. After all, I wanted to see whatI was up against.

It turns out to be an amazingly beautiful day. Dave is so chatty I pray he doesn’t notice I was completely winded most of the time. Maybe he did that to spare me the embarrassment of how out of shape I am. Let’s face it, once a week Yoga is great, but not enough exercise.

We came to the top of this peak and he pulls out (agh!) what I think is a camera!
“What’s that?” I say breathlessly, not to be sexy, but because I can’t help it. I also think I have humungous arm- pit stains on my organic cotton top. Great. Truly a ‘photo- op.’

“Say Cheese!” he chirps, “This is a new gizmo I picked up called the ‘Snip and Snap’. It’s just a concept model now but I know a guy at Sony who hooked me up. They started this line of environmentally conscious consumer electronics that are powered by a combination of kinetic and solar energy. So there’s no more AC adapters or chargers.”

That is pretty amazing. I just pray it takes a very out of focus picture.

When I get my breathing back to normal I take a look around me. Talk about breathtaking! There’s a gorgeous stream and mountains with the bluest sky I’ve ever seen. They seem to pale in comparison to the blue of Dave’s eyes. I know, that’s cheesy, but give a gal a break.

As I look into Dave’s eyes to tell him what a great time I’m having, the mountains in the background start to blur, my eyes roll to the back of my head and I …pass out.

This is the single most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me in my life.

I wake up to Dave holding a bandanna with eucalyptus essential oil on it to revive me. I guess it’s the “green” version of old fashioned smelling salts.

“You ok? I guess the altitude got to you.”

“I think I was just overwhelmed by the beauty,” I said.

“Well that makes two of us”, he said back to me as he looked into my eyes.

Who knew I liked hiking this much?
