GreenPan Alley
Eco-friendly Cookware for Your New Home Together
I am one liberated wife-to-be who enjoys going back into the kitchen, as long as hubbs-to-be will get in there himself afterwards to take care of the dishes. That's why one of the more exciting aspects of the wedding planning will be choosing the kitchen items for the registry. We're not going to ask for the world, and we're going to try to pick things that aren't too bad for the world. But yay! We'll have a whole set of matching pots and pans like grownups!
I thought we'd be going with Le Crueset enameled cast-iron pots and pans, but I've just learned of a line of cookware called GreenPan. I refuse to believe you can go wrong with good old cast iron, but if you want to one-up the Greenses, here are the GreenPan line's claims:
scratch-resistant nonstick coating (Thermalon) that doesn't release toxic fumes when overheated. Significant CO2 reduction in the manufacturing process. Basically none of the nasty chems from the bad kind of nonstick coatings: PTFE & PFOA.
Be sure to casually drop this info while serving your dinner guests their locally-sourced organic veggies out of a GreenPan and watch them turn...wait for it...green with envy.
Your RiverWired blogger apologizes for that last sentence.
