Pierce Brosnan talks composting, Rachel Bilson wants you…to recycle your old jeans, green bling and more.
I could listen to Irish actor Pierce Brosnan talk all day...but when he's talking about compost... it's like I've found a four-leafed clover. In the February edition of Bon Appetit, an all-green issue, the actor talks about how people can be more eco-conscious in the kitchen. He suggests composting scraps – from banana peels to coffee grounds – and recommends a turntable composter that you can put in your garden. He's also all about purchasing all-natural cleaners, recycled paper products, organic cotton and non-GMO [genetically modified organism] food products. Pierce says he's been inspired to think more about the environment by lots of people – from his wife Keely to his "dear friend" Dr. Jane Goodall.

The O.C's Rachel Bilson wants you… to recycle your jeans. The adorable little brunette is spokeswoman for Teens for Jeans, a campaign to get people to recycle their gently worn jeans at Aeropostale stores between now and Febuary 10. The jeans will go to teenagers living in homeless shelters across the country; recyclers get a coupon for 20% a new pair of denim at any Aeropostale store. So dig out your loose fits, skinny jeans, those tapered ones with zippers on the ankles or even the dreaded acid washed. It's for a good cause.
Shanna Moakler, from Dancing with the Stars and Crowned, talked to the Pinks & Blues blog about her recent decision to go vegetarian. Her husband, Travis Barker from Blink 182, was a veggie, so he inspired her decision. She also made their whole family go organic. "It hasn't been that hard for me," she said. "Los Angeles offers lots of great alternatives." Slowly lots of those "alternatives" are making their way across the nation… and not a moment too soon.

Lastly, tis red-carpet season… and what better way to celebrate the Grammys and the Oscars than with some eco-friendly bling? Actress Dominika Wolski is the spokeswoman for Froote, the "first eco-friendly red-carpet jewelry line," created by actress Elizabeth Moore. So maybe this year you'll be seeing fewer grills and more green jewelry. Let's hope.
