Find the Best Green Real Estate for Sale
Sustainable Homes for Sale
Say you're interested in a green home, but not interested in building. What next? Some options are that you could go green prefab, you could remodel your current abode in green style, or you could buy a previously built green home.
Of all these choices, previously built green homes may be the hardest/ Simply because there's fewer green homes around. I'm betting that most real estate agents in your local area don't specialize in green homes. Where I live is considered pretty green by national standards, and there's still just a few green specific real estate agent options.
Recently I found this new awesome resource that might make buying a green home less troublesome. It for sure will make it more fun. Green Homes for Sale is absolutely my favorite new place online. I LOVE it. This site lists green homes in all areas of the U.S. and to a lesser extent some outside of the U.S options such as in Canada and Puerto Rico.
The best part about this site is the browsing. There are some seriously amazing green homes listed. You can do a detailed search, or just browse slide shows for fun. Almost every home on there comes with a full pack of pictures; interiors, exteriors, landscaping. It's so much fun to look. They also offer handy break downs of what exactly is green about each home. Since it's variable this is useful. You can find out if a home is simply energy efficient, or full blown off the grid sustainable.
The only con I've found is that a fair amount of the homes (not all) are McMansion style green. Sure they're energy efficient, but with a footprint of 4,000 sq ft, how green is it really? Still the smaller houses rock, and if you're looking to buy this site can give you a semi-decent idea of the types of green homes that may be in your area. If you've got a green home to sell, you can list with them as well.
