With 12 Oscar nominations under his belt, Jack Nicholson talks... and people listen. So what is the star of The Bucket List talking about? Solar power. The king of the eyebrow arch told the AP that small bits of energy conservation aren't going to work when people are burning 60 percent of the gas at traffic lights. He says our environmental problems can't be fixed unless we go to "big solar." He said he's been pushing solar power since the 1970s... when he was still with Anjelica Huston, had only one Oscar and made a lot more of those "sexy men" lists.

Tom Cruise is in the dog house this week because MSNBC reports that between his plane, fleet of cars and motorcycles, he spends $1 million bucks a year in gas. Excessive... but I wonder how much that is in relation to Katie Holmes's couture wardrobe. I've heard her Barney's bill is many times the price of his gas... and her clothes certainly aren't all organic.
My knowledge of Sir Richard Branson is limited. He's a billionaire, he crossed the Atlantic in a hot-air balloon... and his reality show wasn't as good as Donald Trump's. However, I was impressed by his interview in Time magazine in which he talked about how he's investing his own cashola into developing clean fuels, and plans to fly one of his Virgin Airlines 747s using clean fuel to prove it can be done. Hmmm... Maybe he could fuel up Tom Cruise's jet.

Also in Time, Bono wrote an essay praising Al Gore's environmental work. The U2 frontman also revealed a few tidbits of his own: He calls his wife, designer Ali Hewson, "an eco-warrior" and credits her for making sure their dish detergent is in a biodegradable container. A rock star aware that people have to hand wash dishes? Shocking. I officially love Bono more than I ever thought possible.
