Heavy Metal Concert Celebrates Earth Hour with Pedal Powered Show
I'm thinking about this post at Tree Hugger today. Even though tomorrow will feature Earth Hour, when millions of people will turn their lights off for an hour to raise global warming awareness, a Tel Aviv heavy metal concert will go on. Instead of electric power the concert will be fueled by 42 pedaling volunteers.
Hey...wait....does this count? I mean, the lights will still be on, right?
"Keep your eyes open and your flashlights near tomorrow night between 8 and 9pm," writes Karen from Green Prophet, "because Tel Aviv will be taking part in Earth Hour."
So here's my question, and feel free to answer it if you like. Is the purpose of Earth Hour to not use electricity or to turn off the lights, because there's a difference. I appreciate the group Knesiat Hasechel wanting to raise awareness and all, but if the point is to plunge the world into darkness, aren't they defeating the purpose?

...and Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz want you to Act Green by signing their petition to increase fuel economy and unite to conserve energy and reduce our reliance on oil.
Rock on!
