When Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz got engaged last month, Pete made sure to specify that Ashlee's engagement ring did not contain a blood diamond. He told People magazine: “It is not a conflict diamond. It’s something I care about.”

“I can’t actually go [to Africa to pick it out] myself, but I trust [the jeweller]. He’s a reputable person,” said the Live Earth alum.

The coolest part about that is seeing the phrase "conflict diamonds" being dropped in such a fluffy mainstream magazine.

And now word is out that the wedding will be this coming Saturday. Guests have been told to clear their schedules, but the location is still unknown.

Why such a short engagement? Some tabloids and other sources have been calling shotgun, but that's neither here nor there. They seem like good kids, and they're getting married. Good for them.

But will the wedding be green? Ashlee was open to the possibility last month, but so far there's no word on whether the two acted on that idea, although as far as themes go, Pete joked about the possibility of a Gremlins theme.(Dumb.)
