Study: People Are Buying Hybrids

This just came across the wire (hot off the presses and all that), hybrids are selling like hotcakes.

According to market research firm R.L. Polk & Co., registrations for new hybrid vehicles in the U.S. rose 38% to 350,289 in 2007. Of course, the Toyota Prius led the segment with 51.2% of the hybrid vehicle market share. We imagine other favourites like the Honda Civic Hybrid are not too, too far behind.

And as Motor Trend remarks, with gas pushing $4.00 a gallon ($1.20 a litre) it’s pretty safe to say that in the short term, hybrids will at the very least sustain their current marketshare.
