Lela Designs' Green Golf Wear
Vancouver-based women’s designers Lela Designs is offering up some eco-friendly, high-style golf wear of late, including a spring collection of bright, ruffled tank tops (still suitable for the course, we must add) made with biodegradable bamboo. In fact, their stuff is so authentic, two LPGA pros are wearing Lela this season!
Plus, a portion of the proceeds goes to CamFed, an international charity dedicated to providing education to girs in Africa. A good cause, obviously.
Why bamboo?
Bamboo is nature’s most sustainable resource. It is grown without pesticides or chemicals, it is 100% biodegradable and is naturally regenerative. Bamboo is a fast growing plant with shoots averaging 24 to 36 inches or more in a 24 hour period. Bamboo fabric is naturally anti-microbial, hypoallergenic and thermal regulating. It is also resistant to mould. After multiple washings, over 70% of the bacteria cultured on bamboo textiles are destroyed by the fiber. Bamboo breathes and wicks moisture away due to its porous nature. Bamboo also has an excellent drape and a silky-cashmere feel.
